Get the Look, photograph 3

On to the next photo... a sweet and simple cottage dining room! It has a great sea-side feel with its bright blue flooring and clean white walls. Take another look!

Rather than buying tiling as shown here, you could start with your existing floor, whether its bringing in a bright throw rug, tinting your wood floor with a stain,  or even painting sanded plywood with a durable paint. Against white walls you'll have the perfect backdrop for simple accessories and clutter-free simplicity.

We'l start with the big items. I love the distressed table! Its very rustic and adds character. Here's a couple really fun tables that would bring a little of this to your own space...

This classic farmhouse-style table pulls out for extra seating and has a super nautical sea-horse pattern in the center!

Or try a more elegant approach with this detailed Victorian-style table...

Next for chairs.... Go simple and modern as in the photograph or add a bit more detail. The great thing about your space is its YOUR space :)! And an added tip: Nothing brings in a cottage look like mix-matched chairs in the same color!

Now for the real fun, accessories... We needs a display shelf, china, vases, and place settings...

I don't find a plate rack quite like this one on Etsy-Most are shabby or too small for the wall space. I suggest trying Ikea, Target, Crate and Barrel, or such stores to find a modern, clean lined over-sized plate rack. Then fill it with a modern retro set like such....

Just a few things for the table top and you've got the look!

Get the Look, photograph 2

Today I'm working with the second photograph in my Summer Blues post. Its a wonderful children's room. The owner found some great unique pieces that add a personal touch to the space. You can get a similar look by finding or creating your own special pieces that echo a similar nautical, cottage feel.
Here's another look at the room I found while browsing the Country Living site....

Paint-by-numbers are so fun and look amazing when displayed as a collection. To match a set like this, all you need is to find a range of landscapes in varying sizes then paint all the frames white. Here's a nice selection and you'll get the idea... Again, all finds are from Etsy!

My Sisters Barn

I love the lamp's woodsy feel. Here's a great take on it!

As for the amazingly unique side table, its fun to find your own interesting piece and since theirs is one-of-a-kind (AKA Nearly impossible to find :) ) try something eye-catching like this great little table...

Now for an array of fabrics-spreads,pillows, and such with a wonderful nautical feel! Play with the patterns; a mix adds texture and depth that matched sets cannot...

And for a sweet finishing touch, bring a little outdoors in...

Enjoy, and please visit these wonderful shops!

Get the Look, photograph 1

When swooning over the photographs in my last post I thought, I don't want to just look at them......I want to see what it would take to get the look! I'll start with the first room that I found while browsing Pinterest. Here's another look at it...

So serene, relaxing and restful. I just LOVE all the shades of blue against the clean white!
To add to my challenge I decided to only search Etsy! Here are some lovely items that will help bring the look to your own home. Enjoy!

And for the old table you have that's currently just collecting dust....

Happy Saturday~Amy
